Jakarta, July 1 -- The House of Representatives (DPR) plans to bring together all political party factions to deliberate on the recent ruling by the Constitutional Court (MK) mandating a two-year gap between national and regional elections.
DPR Speaker Puan Maharani announced the plan after a plenary meeting at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"Of course, we need insights from all seated parties since the Constitution stipulates that elections should be held every five years. For this reason, all parties need to pay close attention to the ruling's potential implications," she explained.
Maharani noted that the MK's verdict would likely affect Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.
