Jakarta, Nov. 6 -- The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has called on the government to take an active role in helping to resolve the ongoing civil war in Sudan and support efforts to restore peace in the country.
"Indonesia's active role will prove significant in promoting a ceasefire and fair dialogues," Deputy Chairman of DPR's Commission I Sukamta remarked in a statement cited in Jakarta on Thursday.
The lawmaker made the appeal following the Sudanese government's proposal to involve Turkiye and Qatar as mediators in peace talks between its military and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
