Semarang, C Java, Aug. 30 -- Dozens of teenagers were arrested after attacking the Central Java Police Headquarters in the city of Semarang on Saturday afternoon.

The attack started when a group of people, some carrying wooden sticks, approached the police station from Kusumawardani Street.

The group threw rocks at officers guarding the entrance, and police quickly responded by firing tear gas and chasing the attackers, who fled in different directions.

Central Java Police Spokesperson Senior Commissioner Artanto confirmed the attack, saying the group was identified as anarchists.

He explained the assault occurred around 3 p.m. local time, following a student protest at Semarang's Diponegoro University.
