Denpasar, Bali, Feb. 12 -- The panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court, Bali, sentenced a Brazilian citizen to 18 years imprisonment after being found guilty of bringing 3 kilograms of cocaine into Bali.

The verdict against the Brazilian citizen named Yuri Bezerra Da Costa (25) was read by Judge Ni Made Okti Mandiani in Denpasar on Thursday.

"The judge sentences defendant Yuri Bezerra Da Costa to 18 years in prison, minus all time served in detention," she said.

The defendant was also fined Rp1 billion (US$57 thousand) or substituted with 190 days of imprisonment.
