Pekanbaru, Riau, Jan. 29 -- The coffin of an Indonesian, shot dead by the Malaysian Coast Guard (APMM) in Malaysia last week, was repatriated to his home province here on Wednesday.

The coffin, which belongs to Basri, the only Indonesian killed in the APMM interception that turned fatal in the Tanjung Rhu waters in Malaysia's Selangor on January 24, 2025, safely arrived at Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport at 4 p.m. local time.

Basri's cousin, Azrai, told reporters that the family has accepted Basri's fate, adding that he will be buried in his hometown.

"We will immediately transport him to Rupat Sub-district in Bengkalis District. We will bury him today," he remarked.
