Jakarta, Feb. 12 -- Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that coal production will continue to be cut to raise prices on the international market, as Indonesia supplies coal abroad at around 43-45 percent.

"We'll just balance consumption, and that's what we produce," Lahadalia said at the 2026 Energy Self-Sufficiency Strategy: Downstreaming, Transition, and Investment held in Jakarta on Thursday.

He explained that the total coal consumed globally is 8.9 billion tons, while the amount of coal traded is only around 1.3 billion tons.

"Indonesia supplies 560 million tons of coal abroad. But we don't control the price; this is just a scam," Lahadalia said.
