Jakarta, Dec. 25 -- Indonesia's Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar underscored that Christmas is not only a religious celebration but also a reminder of universal values such as love, care, and solidarity.

Speaking during Christmas celebrations at the Sacred Heart of Mary Cathedral in Manado, North Sulawesi, Umar said the occasion highlights the importance of translating faith into genuine concern for others.

"Amidst the nation's various challenges, Christmas reminds us that solidarity, empathy, and brotherhood are the main strengths in maintaining unity," he remarked.

Umar was welcomed by Bishop Benedictus Estephanus Rolly Untu, priests, and thousands of Catholics who filled the cathedral.
