Jakarta, Feb. 17 -- Indonesian Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto announced the granting of special remissions and prison sentence reductions for 44 Confucian inmates on the occasion of the 2026 Chinese New Year celebration.

He noted in a statement here on Tuesday that the government awarded special remissions ranging from 15 days to two months to 43 adult prisoners and a 15-day sentence cut to one child in conflict with the law.

"The state honors our fellow citizens who have demonstrated positive changes while serving their sentences, including by granting special remissions and sentence reductions on this year's Chinese New Year celebration," Andrianto said.
