Beijing, Sept. 23 -- China on Monday said a two-state solution remains the only viable path to peace in the Middle East and stressed the need for broader international consensus, following Palestine's recognition by the UK, Canada, and Australia.
"The two-state solution requires greater global consensus, and no unilateral moves should undermine its foundation," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun at a press briefing in Beijing.
His remarks came a day after the UK, Canada, and Australia announced official recognition of the State of Palestine, ahead of the UN General Assembly.
