Jakarta, March 25 -- Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani affirmed that state budget efficiency presents an opportunity for the government to enhance state financial management.

The house speaker made the statement while chairing a DPR plenary meeting at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

According to Maharani, the government's efforts to realize state budget efficiency are an obligation in accordance with the mandate set forth in Law Number 17 of 2003 on State Finance.

"It states that the state finance must be managed orderly, in compliance with laws, efficiently, economically, effectively, transparently, and responsibly, while paying attention to fairness and appropriateness," she remarked.
