Jakarta, July 29 -- Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati credited the country's record-high rice reserve levels to an additional Rp16.6 trillion (around US$1 billion) in funding provided to state-run logistics firm Bulog in March 2025.

"Our rice reserves managed by Bulog have reached the highest volume ever recorded in history," she highlighted at a press conference on the outcomes of a meeting of the Committee for Financial System Stability in Jakarta on Monday.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, she said that the funds, sourced from the state budget, served as a non-permanent investment to strengthen food reserves and stabilize rice prices-ultimately boosting national food security.
