Jakarta, Nov. 27 -- Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria has urged that plans to develop a spaceport in Biak, Papua, be designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN).
"We want to propose this as a National Strategic Project so the spaceport can truly be realized," Satria said at the BRIN office on Thursday.
He explained that the project would deliver major benefits to Indonesia, particularly in satellite research.
With its own launch facility, Indonesia would no longer need to rely on other countries for satellite launches.
