Jakarta, July 19 -- To support national food security, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is researching rice varieties that are resilient under stressful climate conditions and can be grown in all types of environments.
"We have agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture that the rice varieties must be developed using specific seeds," BRIN head Laksana Tri Handoko told Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) during a working meeting in Jakarta on Thursday.
"So, we are developing rice seeds that can be planted in all locations," he added. He informed that the research aims to maximize agricultural productivity at various locations with different climate characteristics.
