Jakarta, May 14 -- The Indonesian government's strategies to advance the national cosmetics sector include encouraging efforts to ensure the high quality of locally made products, head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Taruna Ikrar, has said.

"As a regulator, we will provide maximum support for the growth of cosmetics (industry) in our country because cosmetics are our basic need; it is no longer secondary," he said at the opening of the Indonesia Cosmetics Ingredients (ICI) Expo & Seminar 2025 here on Wednesday.
