Jakarta, May 28 -- Indonesia's National Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) is developing a vocational training program for low-income families to address the rising wave of layoffs and reduce poverty levels nationwide.

Head of BP Taskin Budiman Sudjatmiko stated here on Wednesday that the training program is a collaboration between the Indonesian government and two Chinese institutions: Global New Energy Academy and Beijing Explore The Unknown Tech Ltd.

"The main target of this program is families in the extreme poverty category who have never had access to formal training or employment placement," he remarked following a meeting with representatives from the two Chinese institutions.
