Jakarta, Feb. 28 -- Communication through social media and chat applications has become part of the strategy of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) to raise awareness of disaster prevention among communities living in cities.

"We all definitely have mobile phones, which can be used for education. We use social media applications, activating group (chats) on WhatsApp, and from there we can educate (people)," Deputy for Disaster Prevention at BNPB, Prasinta Dewi, stated here on Friday.

She emphasized that BNPB communicates disaster-related information by using language that is easy for the public to understand.
