Jakarta, March 7 -- Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto, said that his agency is pushing efforts to accelerate flood mitigation in Bekasi, such as floodwater pumping and weather modification operations.

In a statement released on Friday, he informed that floodwater pumping has been carried out for residential housing that is at a lower elevation than the main road.

He conveyed this while reviewing the Sahara Indah Permai 3 Housing in Satria Jaya village, North Tambun, Bekasi district, West Java.

"This area is located lower than the road. It will take a long time to dry the water. Thus, we brought water pump to suck the flood (water)," he said.
