Jakarta, Aug. 29 -- The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that it has mobilized its local office (BPBD) to deploy personnel to assist hundreds of residents affected by flooding in South Halmahera District, North Maluku Province.

"In response to the disaster, a quick response team from the South Halmahera BPBD has reached the affected areas," Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center Abdul Muhari stated in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that the BPBD team would immediately distribute basic necessities and emergency supplies to residents following the flooding, which impacted 150 families and inundated at least 150 homes.
