Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is continuing to coordinate with regional governments and field officers as forest and land fires hit Klaten and Sragen Districts of Central Java and Aceh Besar District, Aceh.
The step has been taken as an anticipatory measure against the potential spread of fires as the dry season continues in several areas in Indonesia.
Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the BNPB, Abdul Muhari, here on Monday, reported that fires in Krakitan Village and Kaligawe Village of Klaten District occurred on Sunday (August 31) at around 11:30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The total affected area in the two villages stood at 4.5 hectares.
