Jakarta, Jan. 21 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is intensifying weather modification operations and accelerating the construction of temporary housing to reduce the risk of further disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the BNPB, Abdul Muhari, said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the measures are part of efforts to control rainfall and speed up post-disaster recovery.

"The weather modification operations are intended to control the intensity of rainfall to prevent further disasters in disaster-prone areas," he said.
