Jakarta, March 24 -- The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) teamed up with the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) to build a migrant worker community security system.
Head of BNN Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom stated that the system's development is part of a commitment to strengthening synergy to protect Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from the risks posed by international drug syndicates.
"The high interest of the public to work abroad is often exploited by narcotics networks," Hukom noted when confirmed on Monday.
The meeting between the two institutions took place in Jakarta on Thursday (March 20).
According to BNN data, 106 Indonesian citizens have been apprehended for carrying drugs.
