Pangkalpinang, Jan. 10 -- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands, has urged residents of West Bangka District to remain alert to the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds, which could trigger flooding, landslides, and fallen trees.

"Today, there is potential for extreme rainfall in West Bangka," said Head of the Pangkalpinang BMKG Tri Agus Pramono on Saturday.

He said the early weather warning issued for the Bangka Belitung Islands on Saturday indicated the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning, thunder, and strong winds in Mentok and surrounding areas of West Bangka District.
