Jakarta, Aug. 15 -- Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo reminded the public that the rupiah is a symbol of national sovereignty, fought for by the country's heroes, and must be preserved, respected, and cherished by all Indonesians.

"We must protect it together, use it with pride, and understand its role in the national economy," Perry said when opening the 2025 Festival Rupiah Berdaulat Indonesia (FERBI) in Jakarta on Friday.

He emphasized that the rupiah is not merely a means of payment but also a national identity and a reflection of Indonesia's cultural and historical heritage.
