Jakarta, May 24 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said the Bengkulu city government has declared a week-long emergency in the city following a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on Friday morning.
"An emergency response status has been set by the Bengkulu Mayor through Decree Number 110/2025, valid for seven days from May 23 to 29, 2025," Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the BNPB Abdul Muhari said here on Saturday.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 80 kilometers, with strong tremors reported in Bengkulu City and several surrounding areas, such as Seluma, Central Bengkulu, and North Bengkulu Districts.
