Jakarta, March 4 -- The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has deployed teams from its Disaster Preparedness Unit (BTB) to rescue and evacuate residents affected by floods in Jakarta and Bekasi, West Java.
According to the agency's statement received here on Tuesday, the rescue teams have begun evacuating flood-hit people in Jati Asih, Bekasi, as well as the Cillitan, Cawang, and Kramat Jati regions of East Jakarta.
"The Baznas immediately responded to this disaster by fielding BTB teams to help with the evacuation process of flood victims to safer places in shelters," Baznas' Head of Distribution and Utilization, Saidah Sakwan, noted.
