Batam, Nov. 4 -- The Batam Immigration in Riau Islands has detained 10 foreign nationals who violated immigration regulations, with six detainees facing immediate deportation.

The Head of the Batam Immigration Office, Hajar Aswad, in Batam on Tuesday, explained that the violations committed by the foreign nationals varied, from misusing their stay permits to working without proper permits.

"Today we are handling ten detainees; a total of six will be deported, one will proceed to investigation, and three are still under investigation," Aswad said.

Some of the cases handled include a Chinese national who was holding a visa on arrival and suspected of misusing his stay permit by working as a guest agent at a nightclub.
