Kendari, Dec. 29 -- The Kendari National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has urged tourists to remain vigilant about undersea currents when visiting several beaches in Southeast Sulawesi Province during the 2026 New Year holidays.
Speaking in Kendari on Monday, Kendari Basarnas Head Amiruddin explained that December marks the peak of the west monsoon season, which is characterized by large waves and strong coastal currents.
"We urge people visiting tourist attractions, especially beaches, to be extra cautious. We are currently entering the peak of the west monsoon season, with quite large waves," he said.
