Jakarta, Nov. 28 -- The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has deployed additional personnel to strengthen sea-based operations in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra after flooding and landslides blocked several land routes.

Basarnas Head Mohammad Syafii said in a press conference on Thursday (November 27) that sea transport is being used to deliver personnel and equipment.

"Since several land routes are still inaccessible, we are utilizing sea transport, and our KN SAR vessel is on standby," Syafii said.

Basarnas, which coordinates search and rescue operations nationwide, has activated eight missions across the three provinces affected by hydrometeorological disasters.
