S Tangerang, Banten, Dec. 25 -- The Government of South Tangerang City, Banten Province, has declared an emergency response status to address the city's escalating waste crisis following an assessment by the local Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).

"We assessed several indicators, including the threat levels of air and water pollution," South Tangerang BPBD Secretary Essa Nugraha said in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday.

He stated that the waste emergency status was declared under South Tangerang Mayoral Decree No. 600.1.17.3/Kep.500-Huk/2025 regarding the Waste Management Emergency Response, effective from December 23, 2025, to January 5, 2026.
