Manado, N Sulawesi, Sept. 3 -- In response to the elevated status of Mount Lokon in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, the Indonesian authorities have expanded the volcano's danger zone, now urging all residents and tourists to stay clear of a 2.5-kilometer radius around the Tompaluan Crater.
The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that this action comes after the volcano's status was officially raised from Level II (Alert) to Level III (Standby) on Wednesday.
"Adhering to these recommendations is vital to prevent any unwanted incidents," Head of the Sulawesi and Maluku Volcano Monitoring and Landslide Disaster Mitigation Center, Juliana DJ Rumambi, stated on Wednesday.
