Jakarta, July 3 -- At least 31 people have been safely evacuated from the Tunu Pratama Jaya roll-on/roll-off vessel, which sank in the Bali Strait on Wednesday evening, the Transportation Ministry has said.
In a statement received here on Thursday, director general for marine transportation at the ministry, Muhammad Masyhud, confirmed reports that four people had died, while 31 others had been safely evacuated from the ship as of 10 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Currently, the survivors, who are still being identified, are undergoing treatment in Gilimanuk, Bali, he said.
He informed that the ship, which was sailing from Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk Port, sank at 11:35 p.m. (GMT+7) on Wednesday after experiencing an emergency.
