Jakarta, June 26 -- The foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran declared on June 24, 2025.

In a statement on the situation in the Middle East, received in Jakarta on Thursday, ASEAN foreign ministers also expressed concern over the escalating tensions in the region since June 13, 2025.

"We urge all parties to respect the ceasefire and avoid further escalation of this conflict," the statement read.

The ministers reaffirmed the obligation to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflict, in line with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
