Jakarta, Aug. 21 -- ASEAN law ministers, including Indonesia's Justice Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, signed a joint statement Thursday in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen cooperation in developing international commercial arbitration and mediation across the region.

The "Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers on International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Development" reaffirms member states' commitment to promoting justice, economic growth, and sustainable development through improved dispute resolution frameworks.

"This joint statement was initiated by Malaysia, as the Chair of ASEAN in 2025, through the Malaysian Office of the Minister of Civil Affairs, led by Dato' Seri Azalina Othman Said," Agtas said.
