Kuala Lumpur, Sept. 20 -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he has reached out to the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia to help de-escalate recent tensions along their shared border, emphasizing ASEAN's commitment to regional stability.
As current ASEAN Chair, Anwar said he first contacted Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, congratulating him on his recent appointment and welcoming his planned visit to Malaysia.
Anwar said the visit would strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
The leaders also discussed the latest developments on the Thailand-Cambodia border. Anwar stressed the importance of maintaining calm and preventing minor disputes from escalating into broader tensions.
