Medan, Nov. 30 -- Soldiers from Military Regional Command I/Bukit Barisan (Kodam I/BB) built a makeshift bridge to evacuate residents affected by flooding in Garoga Village, Batang Toru District, South Tapanuli District, North Sumatra.
"This bridge was constructed after the main access route was completely cut off when the overflowing river damaged the connecting road," said Colonel Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, Head of the Kodam I/Bukit Barisan Information Unit (Kapendam), in Medan on Sunday.
The temporary bridge was built with support from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) team and volunteers, using logs carried downstream by the flood.
"The logs were stacked to create a crossing point, especially for pedestrians," he said.
