Jakarta, April 23 -- The Ministry of Investment and Downstream/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) stated that Apple's plan to build an AirTag factory in Batam will resume amid a reciprocal tariff to be applied.
"It will continue," the ministry's Deputy for Investment Promotion, Nurul Ichwan, remarked on Wednesday.
He revealed that the US technology giant had purchased land for the factory in Batam and expressed its seriousness about investing in Indonesia.
"The company had purchased the land. It is impossible not to invest," Ichwan remarked.
However, he assumed that implementing the reciprocal tariff policy would affect the performance of US companies.
