Yogyakarta, Nov. 15 -- Indonesia plans to accelerate its digital economy through an "AI Center of Excellence" at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and potentially other campuses, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said Saturday.
Patria made the remarks during a signing ceremony for a collaboration between state telecommunications company Telkom Indonesia and UGM to develop the center at the university's Innovation and Creativity Arena (GIK).
"In Southeast Asia, the digital economy could reach $1 trillion by 2030, with Indonesia contributing 40 percent. The AI Center of Excellence will support this growth," Patria said.
