Jakarta, Feb. 12 -- Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized the need to attach a multifunctional role to infrastructure following successful military aircraft landing and takeoff tests on a Sumatran toll road.

"I have repeatedly said that infrastructure must be multifunctional, being able to serve different purposes," he remarked in Jakarta on Thursday after an F-16 aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force perfectly maneuvered on the Trans-Sumatera Toll Road the previous day.

He cited dams as an example, noting that their functions go beyond raw water supplies and flood control, extending to renewable energy sources and venues for sports and tourism.
