Jakarta, Dec. 30 -- Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti said that 3,508 schools, or around 85 percent of the 4,149 schools affected by disasters in Aceh and Sumatra, have resumed operations.
The minister said here on Tuesday that some 54 school still host study sessions in tents due to heavy damages on their facilities. Moreover, several schools are completely destroyed, he added.
"Schools which are operational in Aceh are 2,226 or 81 percent, and then in West Sumatra are 380 or 86 percent, and in North Sumatra are 902 or 95 percent," Mu'ti elaborated.
He added that emergency learning tents have been set up at 14 locations in Aceh, 21 in West Sumatra, and 19 in North Sumatra.
