India, Jan. 15 -- On Friday the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the names of four candidates including former Gujarat bureaucrat Arvind Kumar Sharma, for the upcoming biennial polls for the 12 Legislative Council seats in Uttar Pradesh, which will fall vacant later this month. Elections to 12 Legislative Council seats will take place on January 28.

Besides Sharma, the other candidates which are nominated for the upcoming election are Swatantra Dev Singh, Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Laxman Prasad Acharya.
