India, Dec. 20 -- Mangalore: Two victims aged 49 and 23 died of gunshots, as police opened fire at protestors, who hurled stones at them. Despite the implementation of Section 144 in Mangalore, late Wednesday evening, demonstrators took to the streets to voice their discontentment over the amendment of the Citizenship Act.

According to Mangalore's police commissioner, PS Harsha 20 police personnel were injured as the crowd grew increasingly violent. In the end, they had to resort to lathi-charge, tear gas shelling, and open firing.
