Ethiopia, April 8 -- The Ethiopian government has declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

The government has been taking progressive measures to tackle COVID-19 since it became a global pandemic.

According to a statement from Prime Minister's Office, the government has declared a state of emergency because of the rapid spread of the virus.

Following the state of emergency citizens are expected to highly obey the directions issued by the government so as to curb impacts of COVID-19.

The Council of Ministers, after discussing about the issue, directed it to the House of Peoples' Representatives.
