Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 29 -- The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia has recently conducted a consular visit to 11 Vietnamese fishermen detained for illegal fishing in Sabah state as part of the efforts to protect Vietnamese citizens abroad and lift the European Council's yellow card warning on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. According to the embassy's First Secretary Nguyen Tran Trung, the trip was carried out with the coordination and support of Malaysia's federal authorities and Sabah state. The 11 fishermen, on board two unregistered fishing vessels, were arrested by Malaysian maritime authorities on September 15 and are being held in Kota Kinabalu.
