Kuala Lumpur, July 28 -- Vietnam can serve as a mediator within ASEAN when conflicting views emerge, Prof. Ruhanas Harun from the Department of International Relations under the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) has said.
In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency's correspondents in Kuala Lumpur, Ruhanas mentioned Vietnam's growing role and development prospects within ASEAN, especially amid increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics in the region and the world, stressing that Vietnam is the most prominent among the newer ASEAN members, maintaining particularly close ties with Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
