Hanoi, April 8 -- Vietnam has so far replaced 189,243 makeshift and dilapidated homes across the country, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs. Of these, 92,291 houses have been completed, while construction has begun on 96,952 new ones. The total includes 18,024 homes for people who rendered service to the revolution, 64,900 under two national target programmes, and 106,319 as part of a campaign on elimination of substandard houses. In the Mekong Delta, 13 localities have contributed significantly, removing 40,128 substandard homes, including 6,856 completed.
