Hanoi, Oct. 20 -- Tropical storm Fengshen lashed the northern and central Philippines on October 19, leaving at least seven people dead and forcing 47,000 to evacuate. Nearly 14,000 people who evacuated were still displaced from their homes by October 20, the Philippine government's disaster-mitigation agency said. One drowned in Roxas City in the central province of Capiz, where a high tide worsened flooding in many villages. In Pitogo town, Quezon province in the east, five people, including two children, were killed in their sleep when a large palm tree collapsed onto their house.
