Hanoi, Aug. 30 -- Thailand's cabinet has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai as acting prime minister following Paetongtarn Shinawatra's exit. Chusak Sirinil, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, announced the decision on August 30 following a special cabinet meeting, where Dr Prommin Lertsuridej was appointed as secretary-general to the prime minister. Chusak said the Cabinet has also approved a strict framework for activities during the current transitional period to ensure stability without exceeding the limits of its mandate.
