Bangkok, Nov. 6 -- The Immigration Bureau of Thailand (TAK) have arrested about 1600 foreigners fleeing the KK Park scam-centre in Myanmar's Myawaddy township amid a series of attacks on buildings there.

Myanmar government and Karen forces have bombed buildings in KK Park for nine days. The scene of the destruction is about 500 metres from the Thai border.

Col Chonakarn Saengsorn, commander of the army's Naresuan Task Force, said the fleeing foreigners were charged with illegal entry at local police stations in Tak.

As of November 3, 1,598 had been detained, 265 of them are women, he said. An informed source said they came from 28 countries. The steady stream of people fleeing the scam centre was expected to continue./.
