Bangkok, Dec. 8 -- Thailand's Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow on December 7 visited Myanmar to discuss bilateral relations, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement, the ministry said that accompanied by senior officials from the Thai armed forces, Sihasak met with Myanmar military leaders. They reaffirmed the close friendship between the two neighbouring countries, and agreed to foster cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
The two sides also expressed a mutual desire to see peace and development in Thai-Myanmar border areas, and concurred that security operations near the border should be carried out with the utmost caution to avoid impacts on civilians.
