Bangkok (VNA ), May 2 -- A lecturer from Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Medicine has warned Thais to be more vigilant against COVID-19, saying infection rates appear to be worsening with higher hospital admissions, deaths and severe cases.

Dr Thira Woratanarat cited figures as showing that 1,672 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals and nine died during April 21 - 27. Of the patients, 390 suffered from severe lung infections and 148 others had to be put on ventilators.

He noted that the rate of hospital admissions surged 66.5% from the previous week, adding that admission rates rose for seven consecutive weeks.
